Honoring Women in Music
Happy International Women's Day!
Ear Candy is here to serve your sonic sweet tooth.
In honor of Women’s history month and the recently celebrated International Women’s day, we wanted to spotlight women musicians of new and old that we are so glad to have the pleasure to listen to in this lifetime.
Happy belated International Women’s Day to you all!
It’s never too late to celebrate the women in our lives and in our ears. May this post serve as an encouragement to make sure your playlists stay balanced this year. Keep women on repeat! Below are four stand out women musicians that we love to hear. Let the vibes sink in through your headphones of choice and enjoy!
“Cherish The Day” by Sade
Legendary can only come close to describing the seductive magnetism of Sade Adu. With a voice angelic and smooth as silk, she has captivated audiences for several years. There are many songs that encapsulate her strengths, but today, we’re highlighting her song, “Cherish the Day.” It boasts powerful statements of love and can play easily riding around when the sun is at its brightest.
“Wrapped Inside Your Love” by Arima Ederra
Born to Ethiopian refugees in Las Vegas, Nevada, Arima Ederra’s recently released album somehow has these beautiful echoes of the world’s deepest loves and toughest heartaches. Her lyrics are so simple and straight forward. That makes them resonate most fully. Her project A Rush to Nowhere was released on March 6th, 2026, and it’s very much a felt listen.
“A Capella” by Brandy
This underrated track by “The Vocal Bible” Brandy manages to capture everything we love about the songstress. With rich layered vocals and lyrics that invoke the feeling of being lost, she becomes a siren in her own right. The song pleads and begs for answers that cannot be found. No matter how much we sing or cry, sometimes all we can do is feel. This song reminds us of that power, and it does so with muted instruments and a striking performance.
“Fantasmagoría” by Daniela Andrade
Canadian musician of Honduran descent Daniela Andrade’s recent project Oda released on the same day as Arima Ederra’s. The two projects complement each other very well as they both land as alternative indie folk. Andrade’s Oda is sonically spontaneous, each track a bit distinct, and “Fantasmagoría” embodies that perfectly. It’s a delight to listen to the changes and accents of this track!
